Admissions and Reception 2023

Thank you for your interest in our school.

Choosing a school for your child is an important decision and we would welcome the opportunity to meet you and to show what it is like to be a pupil at Brinkley Grove.

In order for you to experience our school, we will be holding tours for prospective parents to have a look at around. Please call the office on 01206 852266 to book one of the time slots below.

You can watch the video below to get a glimpse of what our school is like.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing our wonderful school!

New Parent Testimonial

“Having a child start school during a pandemic is certainly not easy but the staff at Brinkley Grove have made it a smooth and successful process. There has been lots of communication from the school and any questions have been answered swiftly and in a reassuring way.

Mr Smith and his staff have all been so welcoming and as you walk around the school at drop-off or pick-up time, all the staff are friendly and greet parents with a smile. I was so impressed that, even in the first week Mr Smith had obviously made the effort to get to know the children and greeted my daughter by name. It’s those small touches that make all the difference and make you feel that your child is truly valued as an individual.

The induction process worked really well and it allowed my daughter to settle into school with ease. She loves going to school and literally runs to get there in the morning! In the lead-up to her start we were offered opportunities to learn more about the start to school through virtual meetings and these were really helpful – allowing us (and our daughter) to meet the teachers too.

A real effort was made to help us get to know the school and staff – there was a video tour of the school, as well as staff taking the time to share information about themselves on the website which gave us more of a sense of who they were. We certainly appreciated this as it reassured us and helped our daughter feel comfortable and excited about her start – rather than feeling like she was stepping into the unknown!

I can’t emphasise enough how approachable, helpful and welcoming the staff have been and this has made for a brilliant start to school for our daughter.”

General admissions information

The Local Authority co-ordinates the school’s applications for the normal admissions round and further information can be found at Essex Schools Admissions

Applying for a mid-year place at our school

From 1st April 2022, all mid-year applications (including for a September start for children NOT in reception) should be made directly to the school, using the mid-year application form here and / or the school office. Mid-year applications (sometimes called in-year applications) are any application for a school place made to a year group, apart from September admissions to Reception.

For applications into existing year groups, a place will be offered when the number of pupils in the relevant year group is below the admission number for that year group (60).

Please note: if a mid-year application is received during a school holiday period, we will respond as soon as possible when the school reopens.
